Overview

The dolmen “Hidden Possibilities,” or rather what remains of it, can be seen in the village of Vozrozhdenie, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar Krai, Russia. This dolmen is a structure made of massive blocks, which, without any cement, are fitted very tightly together. Also noteworthy is the platform on which it stands. It is made of monolithic slabs, just like the floor inside the dolmen. Unfortunately, the cover has not been preserved. Perhaps it has become overgrown with bushes and trees somewhere nearby. It is a pity that the authorities took too long to begin caring for these dolmens. In Soviet times, most of them were being destroyed: local residents dismantled the structures, used the stones as foundations for their houses or to build fences. When forest roads were laid or tractor drivers prepared land for fields, the dolmens were simply pushed into a pile and buried, since they were not considered architectural monuments.

The dolmens that have survived and are accessible today are a series of monuments in the village of Vozrozhdenie, as well as dolmens in the peasant-farm enterprise “Dolmen.” These are tourist sites, with paid admission, and they are maintained. But this cannot be said of the other dolmens located in the forest, far from tourist trails. They are in a deplorable state, as no one takes care of them. All this, in my opinion, leads to the loss of our cultural heritage.
