Dolmen Mother’s Heart
The Dolmen Mother’s Heart stands out for its unusual structure. It was carved from a single rock and then covered with a roof stone. Scholars believe this demonstrates the use of different construction methods among ancient builders. Today, the dolmen is hidden in a forest near Pshada, where tree roots strangely grow above the ground instead of going deep underground.
The Dolmen Mother’s Heart is considered one of the most fascinating megalithic sites in the Caucasus.
Unlike classic dolmens, which were usually assembled from several slabs, this monument was carved out of a solid block of stone. Ancient builders simply removed the excess rock, creating an inner chamber, and placed a stone slab on top as a roof.
According to the official historical version, dolmens might have been used for ritual or cult purposes. Some researchers suggest they could have served as burial chambers or sacred sanctuaries. At the same time, local legends describe the Dolmen Mother’s Heart as a place of family protection, linked to the energy of the earth and fertility.
What makes this site even more intriguing is its natural surroundings. The tree roots around the dolmen grow above the surface of the ground, unlike in the surrounding forest, where roots usually go underground. This unusual phenomenon adds to the aura of mystery surrounding the dolmen.
